Physics 586 -- PHENOMENOLOGY OF PARTICLE PHYSICS -- SPRING 2002
Instructor:
Associate Professor
S. Martin
Textbook:
Lecture notes distributed instead of an official text (see below). You may
want to look at one or more of the following books: "Quarks and Leptons:
An Introductory Course in Modern Particle Physics" by F. Halzen and A.D.
Martin; "An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory" by M.E. Peskin and
D.V. Schroeder; "Gauge Theory of elementary particle physics" by T.-P.
Cheng, L.-F. Li; "Collider Physics" by V.D. Barger, R.J.N. Phillips.
Grading:
Based 100% on homework sets, assigned approximately weekly.
Graduate catalog description:
Advanced topics in the standard model of quarks, leptons, gauge bosons and
their fundamental interactions. Particle production and decay
phenomenology.
Syllabus: in
postscript or
pdf form.
The corrected and rearranged lecture notes, including a table of
contents, index, handouts, and homework assignments, are now available.
The whole thing (250 pages) in
postscript (about 2.4 Megabytes) or
pdf (about 1.6 Megabytes) form.
The last corrections were made June 23, 2005. (Thanks to Michael Eads,
